MONROE – The first annual Green County 4-H Day Camp was held Aug. 18 at the Green County Fairgrounds. This event was open to all youth going into first through third grade this fall. There were 44 youth in attendance, with 27 of them being 4-H members and 17 of them not 4-H members.  The purpose of 4-H Day Camp was to promote the Green County 4-H program to youth and families both currently in 4-H and not currently enrolled in 4-H.

During the event, the youth experienced the excitement of 4-H camp packed into six hours of fun including games, crafts, nature activities, campfire songs and making new friends. Participants completed four activities which included a rocketry experiment, creating various wildlife footprint from molds, a slime station and tie dying. Each of the activities allowed youth to take home a memento as well.

Green County 4-H enrollment opens on Sept. 6. Any children in 5-year-old Kindergarten through one year past high school is welcome to enroll. Those who would like to be eligible to exhibit at the 2019 Green County Fair through the Green County 4-H program, 4-H enrollment must be completed by Nov. 1.
