MONROE - Nearly 50 Green County 4-H members attended a cake decorating workshop called 1-2-3-4 Decorate Feb. 24 at the Green County Justice Center. The numbers in the workshop title represent skill levels, where youth chose their group based on their previous experience with cake decorating.
Kids in levels one and two decorated cookies, while those in level three decorated single layer cakes and in level four decorated double layer cakes and experimented with fondant. Expert decorators were paired with each group to give guidance and support to the youth.
The purpose of the workshop was to learn new decorating techniques, and youth were able to take home and enjoy the creations they made that day. The youth will put to use their new decorating skills March 17 for Cake Revue, a Green County Fair event where youth exhibit decorated cakes and other desserts that are then judged and placed by a licensed county fair judge.
