MONROE — Three students were recognized at the Monroe Morning Optimist Club meeting for their entries to the local Optimist Club’s essay contest based on the theme of “How Optimism Has Paved My Road to Success”.  Jeremy Cairy Jr., son of Jeremy and Donna Cairy, was awarded $250 for his first-place-winning essay. Kealeigh Carlson, daughter of  Zach and Megan Carlson received $150 for her second-place essay. Jasmeen Mustafa, daughter of Murad and Naila Mustafa won $100 for her third-place essay. 

 As the first place local winner, Jeremy’s essay will be sent to the district level to be judged along with winners from other Optimist Clubs in the district. College scholarships of $2,500 are awarded to top winners at the district level.
