MONROE — On Saturday, June 21, the Green County Fairgrounds was filled with all breeds of dairy heifers for the 2025 Green County Dairy Days Cattle Show. The 67 participants came from all over southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois to show off their 137 dairy heifers in 31 heifer classes.

Dairy Days is an annual Green County event hosted by the Green County Ag Chest, with support from many generous sponsors. Dairy Days is held during June Dairy Month and includes a banquet for the crowning of the new Green County Dairy Queen and Green County Dairy Princess as well as a cattle show at the Green County Fairgrounds in Monroe, Wisconsin. At the cattle show youth from all over southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois proudly showed off their hard work as they led their dairy heifers around the ring, displaying their passion for their heifers and the dairy industry.

The Green County Ag Chest was developed in 1958 when the Green County Dairy Promotion Committee and the Green County Agricultural Foundation merged.  Since its inception, the Green County Ag Chest has been committed to developing new and unique ways to promote the hardworking people of Green County and their products.

The Green County Ag Chest is dedicated to enriching the lives of young people through activities which support education, personal growth, and community involvement. Each year, the Green County Ag Chest participates in, sponsors, or organizes many community-wide events and programs.  Some of those include the following:

Many businesses throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, and other states donated to 2025 Green County Dairy Days to support both the County Queen and Princess Crowning Banquet and the Dairy Cattle Show. The cattle show is funded 100% by the donations received from these very generous sponsors. Because of their generous donations, we are able to offer the cattle show as a free event for all youth in grades 3 through 13, enabling anyone with a dairy heifer and the desire, to participate in the show. Each exhibitor received a complimentary t-shirt, bucket, halter, and ice cream from the Dairy Days Committee to commemorate their participation in the event, as well as very generous premiums to enable them to continue their dairy projects.

Brian Coyne and Krysty Kamps served as our judges for the cattle show. We were very honored to have these two outstanding judges for our show. We thank them for taking time to evaluate our exhibitors and their animals and we appreciate their dedication to the future of the dairy industry.

Our Brown Swiss and Other Colored Breeds Judge is Krysty Kamps from Darlington. Krysty Kamps resides in Darlington with her husband Reggie, and their three children Demi (8), Elliot (6), and Alayah (3), where they own and operate Kamps Rx Genetics. They currently raise over 100 head of Registered Holsteins, focusing on Red and White Holsteins. They also own a few Jerseys, along with two Ayrshires and one Brown Swiss. Krysty enjoys promoting their genetics in the spring through multiple sales and showing at all levels of competition. Krysty and her family are proud of the recognition they received as Premier Breeder of the 2024 Red and White Spring Showcase and breeding multiple All-American nominations since the formation of Kamps Rx Genetics in 2014. They are very proud of having at least one All American nomination of an Apple B daughter for the past 7 years. Krysty is a 2011 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville where she majored in Animal Science with a Minor in Ag business. She was very involved in dairy judging teams growing up through 4-H, Junior Holstein, and her collegiate years. Krysty was the top individual in the Accelerated Genetics Collegiate Dairy Judging contest and also received All-American honors at the National Intercollegiate Judging Contest. Krysty was raised on a Registered Holstein dairy in Richland County. Currently she is employed at Ederer’s Professional Dairy Service where she is an advisor on robotic and conventional dairies and helps with the sales process and barn designs. She has enjoyed implementing new technology on dairies and helping owners and producers succeed to become more efficient dairymen.

Our Holstein Judge is Brian Coyne from Sun Prairie. Brian Coyne grew up on a Registered Holstein Farm in Northwest Wisconsin, and spent his youth showing and fitting cattle at sales and shows around the country. After graduation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2011, Brian worked as a herd manager for Crave Brothers Farm and Heatherstone Enterprises before being hired as a genetic consultant for Select Sires, Inc. where he spent five years working with farmers to increase the genetic potential of their herds. Currently, Brian is a Business Analyst for Select Sires Incorporated where he works with the IT department building the next generation of genetic consulting programs. Brian exhibits numerous breeds at shows and in 2024 exhibited the HM Junior Champion Milking Shorthorn at World Dairy Expo. In 12 years judging professionally, Brian has judged more than 80 shows in 12 states and two foreign countries. Brian currently lives in Marshall with his wife Alex, and assists with his family’s small herd of Holsteins and Brown Swiss.
