MONROE — The 15th annual Green County Premier Exhibitor contest was held at the 2024 Green County Fair. This event is designed to recognize 4-H and FFA members who have shown exceptional involvement and knowledge in their respective project area.
The Premier Exhibitor contest is open to any exhibitor in the areas of swine, dairy, beef, sheep, goats, rabbits, and poultry, and is divided into two age divisions. The junior division is for exhibitors in grades 3-8, and the senior division is for exhibitors in grades 9 and up. There is also a Platinum division for youth in the senior division who have previously won first place in their respective species. Youth who participate in this division are tested on all species rather than just their own. This contest consists of a knowledge exam, skillathon, and how well the exhibitor did in showmanship in the chosen species they compete under. The skillathon consisted of four stations: breed identification, equipment identification, meat and cheese identification, and feed identification.
The top participant in each species and division received Bluetooth headphones, animal planter, and gift certificate donated by Colony Brands Inc. The second and third place participants in each division received $30 and $20 Nasco show supply or Farm and Fleet gift cards, respectively. The Grand Platinum Premier Exhibitor earned a hand-burned leather portfolio donated by Farm & Canvas, with the Reserve earning a $25 Culver’s gift card.
Sponsors for this contest included: Colony Brands, Inc., Farm & Canvas, Green County Beef Producers, Green County Pork Producers, Green County Sheep Producers, Green County 4-H Goat Committee, Green County Holstein Breeders, and Hesgard Collision Center, LLC
