MONROE — The 16th annual Green County Master Showman Competition was held at the 2022 Green County Fair on Saturday, July 23rd. This event brings in the top senior (grades 10 and above) showmen in the dairy, beef, sheep, swine, goats, rabbits and poultry departments at the fair. Two youth from dairy, beef, sheep, swine and goats are invited to participate, and one youth is invited from the rabbit and poultry divisions.

During the event, the twelve participants show all the animal species exhibited at the fair in a round-robin format. Youth are judged by qualified showmanship judges and members of the Agriculture industry from the surrounding communities. After six rotations of the event are completed, the scores are tallied and the member with the highest score earns the title of Green County Fair Master Showman.

2022 Master Showman participants were: Gabrielle Klahn (Oregon FFA), Colten Beckman (Monroe FFA), Nicholas Roe (Monticello FFA), Marissa Vosberg (Young Americans), McKenna Pfeuti (Monticello FFA), Bryce Montgomery (Browntown Busy Beavers), Briliey Swedlund (Juda FFA), Jensen Christensen (Monroe FFA), Alana Durtschi (Jolly Mixers), Carson Gafner (Monticello FFA), Jordan Lerch (Juda Jolly Juniors), and Stevie Cobb (Black Hawk FFA).

The 2022 Green County Fair Master Showman was awarded to Marissa Vosberg (Young Americans). Jensen Christensen (Monroe FFA) was named Reserve Master Showman. Dan Ziegler, a past FFA Advisor from New Glarus, was Master of Ceremonies for the event.

Showmanship judges included: Swine- Ben Veum, Stoughton, WI; Rabbits- Alyssa Bailey, Brodhead, WI; Beef- Grace Link, Deerfield, WI; Goats- Ben Amera, Stoughton, WI; Sheep- Andrew Slack, Evansville, WI; Dairy- Ben Kronberg, Milton, WI; Poultry- Laura Jorgenson, Evansville, WI. 

The overall winner received a plaque and embroidered item of their choice and reserve received a medallion and a plaque. The rest of the contestants received a medallion and all contestants got a t-shirt for being a qualifier in the event. Extension Green County coordinated the 2022 Green County Fair Master Showman Competition with sponsorship from Compeer Financial, State Bank of Cross Plains, Colony Brands, Inc, Klitzman Seed LLC and the Green County Farm Bureau.
