'Shop With A Cop' has best year yet

This year's "Shop With A Cop" took place at the Monroe Walmart on Saturday, Dec. 12 and was our best year yet, helping 134 kids in Green County. On behalf of the Green County Law Enforcement Administrations Association (GCLEAA) we'd like to thank all the law enforcement officers, to include officers from the Department of Corrections, State Patrol, Human Services and other volunteers who offered their time to make the program the success it has become. A big "thank you" goes to the Monroe Walmart managers and associates for providing snacks, services and their own volunteers to help out, not to mention a $2,000 donation. Many extra volunteers, consisting from church, scouting, Explorers, AMVETS, and other organizations and individuals really helped out too, especially since the kids we help now outnumber the cops to go shopping with. It was a tremendous turnout of volunteers and support, which really made the event special.

A special thanks goes to Santa Jim and his elf for adding so much to the excitement of the event and an extra special thank you goes to Glanbia International for Christmas wrapping and supplies, and to Janelle Kosek and her fellow Monroe High School cheerleaders and to all those who donated to the program, which has made "Shop With a Cop" such a wonderful and worthwhile event. Monroe P.D. wanted to express a special thanks to a woman, who anonymously, made a very generous donation. Without your support, "Shop With A Cop" would not exist and there are no words which can express our appreciation to each and every one of you that has contributed in making "Shop With A Cop" bigger and better each year.

Thanks so much.
