Wuest: Crawford would make a good addition to court
Letter To The Editor

From Mimi Wuest

Reedsburg

To the Editor:

Susan Crawford, a candidate for Wisconsin State Supreme Court, in the April 1 election, would be a good addition to our court. We have a legislature that leans strongly conservative, so a more moderate court would be a good balance for them. Susan Crawford is already a judge, sworn to uphold the law and the Constitutions of the nation and the state.

With our current national swing towards dissolving federal jobs in agencies that have served as watch dogs for public health and safety, we need an independent court that is not aligned with one political party or the other. Reportedly, this election is important enough that Elon Musk is contributing to Crawford’s opponent, Brad Schimel, a former Republican Attorney General and now a judge in Waukesha.

In the coming court season, we will probably see cases involving the gerrymandering of voting districts in our state, women’s health issues, labor rights and environmental protections. The Wisconsin Supreme Court will be deciding issues that affect all of us, and they will need to uphold our Constitutional rights. So, please be sure to vote on April 1, no joke! This may well be the most important election of the year!
