To the Editor:
I remember some time back that Monroe was considering tearing down a school (specifically Abe Lincoln) because it was no longer needed due to declining student population. Increasingly smaller enrollments in Monroe grade schools indicate that this is truly the reality of the situation.
Let’s tear down Abe Lincoln and place the new Monroe High School just to the west of the current high school. That way the current adequate gym, auditorium and athletic fields will continue to be usable. This location provides better student access with far less busing than the proposed new sites and a huge benefit of less cost to the taxpayer.
