I live in the 80th Assembly District and we have a great representative, Sondy Pope. What makes her great is her support for public education. This November voters in the 51st Assembly District have a chance to vote for a great candidate, Jeff Wright. One of the things he supports is having a strong public education system in the state of Wisconsin. Sondy needs help and Jeff is the guy who can help.
Some people say there is no free lunch. I bet the students who get vouchers for a religious school would laugh at that. You are buying their free lunch. I wish we had a sign in front of every public school in Wisconsin telling us the amount of tax dollars going to someone else's religious school. Jeff's opponent has voted a number of times to favor voucher schools even though there is not a single voucher school in the 51st district.
On Jeff Wright's website under "Learn More" he lists about $7.5 million in cuts to schools in the 51st District since 2011.
Argyle (where I grew up) has lost $231,532, Black Hawk $743,443, Dodgeville $672,273, Mineral Point Unified $692,757, Monroe $1,442,972, Pecatonica Area $300,492, River Valley $753,997, and Sauk Prairie $328,807.
In today's demanding times, all children need a quality education. The number one predictor for student success is family wealth. Through no fault of their own, many families have slipped out of the middle class due to the Bush Recession and they need our help more than ever. Please don't let the out of state billionaires decide this race again.
