As a board member of the Green Cares Food Pantry near Monticello, I would like to tell you how important and vital the support from the United Way of Green County is to us as well as other local organizations.
We currently serve an average of 260 families each month that totals 783 individuals. Families can come only once a month for meat, soup, fruit, vegetables and pasta supplies. Most of these are purchased from Second Harvest Food Bank at a greatly reduced price, but it still requires cash flow. There are wonderful donations from individuals and charitable groups, but Green Cares has also been grateful recipient of the United Way funding allowing us to meet our basic needs. We are so thankful!
I urge everyone to consider a donation to the United Way's annual campaign. Gathered together our gifts can make a larger, bolder impact to the many worthwhile groups in the local Green County community.
Being involved with the Green Cares Food Pantry, an all-volunteer organization opened my eyes to how critical the United Way's support means to them and those they serve. I have heard their heartfelt thank you and know it is because of groups like the United Way. Truly we echo their motto: Give, Advocate, Volunteer, LIVE UNITED!!
