School District of Monroe Superintendent

To the editor:

As the School District of Monroe Superintendent, I see a dramatic increase in the number of children in our school community whose families are struggling to meet the most basic needs for a quality life. Needs such as food, clothing and shelter. The United Way is working to provide help for these families.

The programs the United Way helps to provide have a direct correlation with the work we do as educators. United Way's mission to Live United, to work together and in collaboration for the greater good of the community is something the School District of Monroe values immensely. Enhancing support for the homeless, childcare services for children, tutoring support for students, free dental care for youth in need, counseling services for youth at risk, health and wellness care and food and shelter for those in need are just a few of the areas the United Way focuses on to help families and the community. Without the work of the United Way, the students we serve would face even greater obstacles that impact their daily lives and ability to learn.

Thank you, United Way, for the work you do to make Green County a great place to live, work and learn.
