To the editor:

Once again, the 60 year-old tradition of the Christmas Stocking Project has completed another successful season in lending a hand to families in need during the holidays. A heartfelt "thank you" goes out to the community volunteers, shoppers, cookie bakers, financial donors, businesses and organizations that helped guarantee the success of this worthy cause.

This year the Christmas Stocking Project was able to help more than 800 children, ages infant to fifth grade, with clothing, boots, coat and toy needs, while assisting more than 330 families with the gift of a holiday food box. Also served through the Christmas Stocking Project were more than 170 seniors who may not have had families around during the holidays.

The Christmas Stocking Committee members wish to express our deepest gratitude for the outpouring of holiday generosity to ensure that families in need may also have a wonderful holiday.
