To the editor:

I would like to express my thanks to everyone connected with the Sylvester Township Board, their Science Team and the Large Scale Livestock Siting Committee for the hours of work they put into researching the effects of a dairy the size of the one proposed by the Pinnacle Corporation for Sylvester Township. The reports shared at the recent township meeting were extremely well written and meticulously documented.

The information they presented sharpened my concerns about the negative long-term effects of allowing CAFOs to be located in Green County. The ground water and environment of this area clearly cannot support operations of this size. I am calling on the Green County Board to use this information and waste no time in putting in place reasonable ordinances to control and limit large-scale animal feeding operations in our county.
