A big blossom to all the people that put "A Christmas Carol" on WEKZ 1260, Friday, Dec. 24. I hope it touches the hearts of many people like it always does me. We are never too old or young. Everyone should pay heed to it. It would make a better place we live in. Again thanks to everyone involved - it warms the heart. - Chuck Schuringa

A huge blossom to Santa who seeing all the cars in my driveway came into my home Christmas Eve and surprised all 35 of us. He made every one of us happy with his visit. He came with candy canes for all 10 of the little ones from 1 to 10 years old. They were jumping with joy, giving him hugs and handshakes. The grown-ups were busy with their cameras. Then 10 little ones all around Santa having several pictures taken. He was so kind, he also gave our 94-year-old guest (Eileen Wagner) a hug (and a smooch)? Glad to say I had my picture also taken. Thank you Santa for stopping and being so nice and thoughtful to my family. You deserve a huge blossom. - Byrdene Baker

A large barb to the person(s) who felt the need to steal my Christmas Ham. Yes, you read it right, a ham was taken from the front seat of my vehicle while parked in a shopping area on Christmas Eve day. While finishing those last-minute errands, I must have forgotten to lock the vehicle and when coming back, I noticed the missing ham. I am very disappointed in my fellow man to stoop to such a level. What is truly ironic about this story was I was making a quick stop to "give food" to go to our wonderful food pantry. The joke is on me. Maybe instead of my monthly donation, I should save myself some time and just leave it all in my unlocked vehicle in a parking area for 10 minutes and it will deliver itself. Such as the case of the missing ham. Well, one last comment. To whomever is enjoying the ham, I hope it is good. I forgive you for your action because I know you must have needed it more than my family. So when we sat down to eat ham (the second one I bought that day) it was bittersweet. I knew I did my part to feed the hungry, but I was saddened by the way it had been accomplished. Our local food pantry is there for anyone in need of it. Please use it next time. -Disappointed

A big blossom to the city of Monroe for pursuing the housing complex on the parking lot north of the Square. We keep referring to it as a senior complex, but it is for people over the age of 55, so that includes a lot of middle-aged , working people as well. It's not just for the wheel-chair set, as a lot of letters and barbs seem to imply. I think downtown is a perfect place for this housing. It might not be a near a grocery store but, to my knowledge, none of Monroe's housing complexes are located walking distance to a grocery store, on any side of town, so that is a moot point. What it would be located close to, though, walking distance to, that so much of Monroe's housing is not close to, would be the library, the Monroe Theatre Guild, the Monroe Art Center, Concerts on the Square, movie theater, activities at the Middle School, the Historical Museum, churches and shopping and dining on the Square. Sounds good to me, for seniors, or for anyone. If we want to make downtown Monroe a people place, let's give priority to people, not parking. Downtown Monroe has a ton of potential. It needs people living down there to help make it happen. I think we can all walk a little to get to our stores, offices and places of work. Good for the heart, and good for the soul. It'll make Monroe a healthier place as well. - Tom Rygh

A barb to The Monroe Times. It would be nice to see more items on their website. Also, updated earlier and with recent news items. - Judy

A huge blossom to Monroe's Pick 'N Save manager Tom Kundert for letting some marvelous flash mobbers sing on Christmas Eve. And to Grace Lutheran staff for letting us "warm up" inside before hand. Comments afterwards were priceless and I'd like to thank the efforts of all singers within 36 hours to get it accomplished. You are awesome. Wonderful spirit of Christmas was shared -Hallelujah! -Sheri Novak

A big blossom to the secret Santa who left the chocolates and gift card at our door. It's been a hard year for me and my son as I haven't found employment. It's nice to know there are caring people in these tough times. It was much appreciated. - Melissa L.
