MONROE - Thomas Wells, 26, won the 5K Cheese Days Chase Saturday in downtown Monroe.
Wells finished the 5K in 16 minutes, 2.2 seconds, which was more than one minute faster than Cam Klein who took second place (17:19.5). Holly Nearman, 28, won the women's 5K with a time of 17:52.2.
Aaron Whalen, 27, finished first place in the 10K Cheese Days Chase with a time of 36:54.6. Dustin Leutenegger took second place (37:24.2) and Colin Kirk was third (38:48.3).
The top women's finisher in the 10K was Dana Olson who won the race with a time of 41:35.9. Mary Donohoo finished second place (43:24.8). Winners of each race received cheese and a cheese cutting board sponsored by the Klondike Cheese Company.
There were more than 1,000 runners who competed in the Cheese Days Chase. There were runners from 24 different states.
