SOUTH WAYNE - Jen Wellnitz can add yet another accolade to her long list of accomplishments in which she has achieved throughout her four years in high school. The Black Hawk senior was recently named the Six Rivers East Conference Player of the Year after putting together a season in which few have ever matched, averaging 23.8 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and over six steals per contest.

In a deeply contested league, the girls all-conference team could almost be mistaken for that of an all-state lineup. In addition to Wellnitz, junior standouts Alyssah Kubly of Monticello and Jenna Langmeier of Argyle earned first-team accolades.

Monticello senior Marissa Berg picked up second-team honors, as well as teammate Samantha DeVoe. After coming off of a successful season in which the Warriors made a deep playoff push, Black Hawk senior Michelle Flannagan reserved a spot on the second-team.

Other area players receiving honorable mention status were Jozey Thoman, Jessica Treuthardt, and Hannah Saalsaa of Argyle, Molly Marass (Juda), Marley Malkow (Albany), Aleigha Sigafus and Tessa Cushman (Black Hawk), and Julia Meyer (Pecatonica).

Coach of the Year honors went to Jim Myers of Barneveld, who led his squad to an undefeated record and a WIAA Division 5 state championship.
