Monroe

Kelsey Erickson, Softball: The junior shortstop was 2-for-4 with a double and triple in the Cheesemakers' 5-1 victory over Dodgeville in the opening round of the WIAA Division 2 softball tournament May 27.

Drew Nafzger, Baseball: The junior right fielder had the game-winning walk-off walk May 28 against Mount Horeb in the opening round of the WIAA Division 2 baseball playoffs. Nafzger came up to the plate with the bases loaded and one out, but watched six straight pitches to move the Cheesemakers onto the second round.

Jaclyn Ditter, Girls Track and Field: Ditter broke the school record in the 100-meter hurdles (:15.7 seconds) with a time of 15.53 seconds at the WIAA Division 2 Boscobel Sectional May 28. Ditter will run at state in two events, including the 100 hurdles.

Area Boys

Michael Walker, Black Hawk Baseball: Walker, a sophomore, was 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs in the Warriors' 9-8 come-from-behind win in the first round of the WIAA Division 4 playoffs May 28 against Williams Bay.

Lucas Stoehr, Pecatonica-Argyle Track and Field: Stoehr won the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.86 seconds at the WIAA Division 3 Bangor Sectional May 27. Twice in the week, at both regionals and sectionals, Stoehr beat Darlington's Alex Erickson, who finished third at last year's state meet in the 400.

Carson Scheidegger, Brodhead-Juda Baseball: Scheidegger took to the bump against heavily favored Evansville in the WIAA Division 2 regional and won. Scheidegger struck out five and allowed just three hits and three runs to help his team advance.

Area Girls

Shannon Klein, Brodhead-Juda Track and Field: Klein finished second in the 400-meter dash at the May 27 WIAA Division 2 Boscobel sectional with a time of :58.12 seconds.

Kayla Ostby, Argyle Softball: Ostby pitched the Orioles to a first-round victory over Albany in the WIAA Division 4 softball playoffs. A freshman, Ostby allowed just a run and two hits in six innings of work.

Katie Viney, Sugar River Soccer: Scored a goal in the first half of the Raiders' 5-0 win over Lodi May 28.
