Vikings can't match Benton's fire

BLANCHARDVILLE - It's tough to keep a state-ranked team down for a full 32 minutes.

Pecatonica held a 15-13 lead on Six Rivers West rival Benton after the first quarter, but the Zephyrs (14-0 overall) drilled five 3-pointers in a 21-7 second quarter that sealed a 60-45 non-conference boys basketball victory Monday night on the road.

Benton - ranked fourth in the Associated Press Division 4 poll - hit nine triples in the game and was led by Jordan Hendricks' 18 points.

Vikings senior Drew Moen hit three long-range bombs of his own and finished with 13 points to lead Pecatonica in the loss. The Vikings (6-8 overall) look to rebound tonight in conference play at home against Juda.
