Sugar River captures title

BELLEVILLE - The Sugar River girls soccer team won two games on shutouts to win the championship of the Raider Quad on Saturday.

Sugar River defeated Beaver Dam 4-0 in the first game and then clipped La Crosse Aquinas 1-0 in the second game.

Sugar River junior Kallin O'Rourke scored two goals to power the Raiders. Sugar River sophomore Julia McNamer scored the first goal against Beaver Dam at 20 minutes, 47 seconds.

O'Rourke scored the next goal on assist from junior Aimee Sies at 25:17 to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead at the half.

Sophomore Ellawyn Fong scored a goal about two minutes into the second half to extend the Raiders' lead to 3-0. O'Rourke scored her second goal on an assist by senior Amber Sies at 47:42.

Sugar River sophomore goalie Rachael Heittola had five saves.

The Raiders scored a goal in the 70th minute of the second game to top La Crosse Aquinas. Heittola had three saves.
