STOUGHTON - Junior Troy Slaby scored a game-high 30 points, including four 3-pointers, to help the Stoughton boys basketball team run by Monroe 91-68 in a Badger South Conference showdown Tuesday.
Slaby scored 20 of his points in the first half as the Vikings built a 40-29 lead. The Vikings (16-3, 8-1 Badger South) cruised from there.
"Slaby got hot and they beat us up on the offensive glass," Monroe assistant coach Jake Grinnell said. "In the second half, we did a much better job on Slaby. They were just more physical, and we turned the ball over. That led to some easy buckets for them. More than anything offensive rebounds hurt us."
Monroe coach Brian Bassett was not available for comment.
Monroe senior Alex Tordoff scored a team-high 21 points. Senior Carter Sawdey added 18 points. Junior Brayden Zettle and sophomore Nick Schumacher chipped in nine points each. Schumacher made two of Monroe's four 3-pointers.
Stoughton's Jordan DiBenedetto added 19 points.
The Cheesemakers (9-10, 4-6 Badger South) host Madison Edgewood at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
