Ritschard leads Monticello past Juda, 64-51

MONTICELLO - The Monticello boys basketball team overcame a Juda rally and closed the game on a 13-3 run to hand the Panthers their first loss 64-51 Tuesday.

The Panthers went on an 8-0 spurt from the end of the third quarter into the fourth to take a 46-43 lead. Monticello senior Tyler Ritschard torched the Panthers for a game-high 34 points and hit six 3-pointers. The Ponies (2-2, 1-0 Six Rivers East) outscored the Panthers 21-10 in the fourth quarter and hit 11 three-pointers as a team en route to the victory.

Monticello junior Lukas Kolasch scored 14 and senior Corey McGowan added 11.

Juda (3-1, 1-1) was led by junior Joey Jordan who scored 15 points. Fellow junior Brandon Bauman had 14 points and sophomore Matt Trotter added 10.

Barneveld 51, Pecatonica 29

BLANCHARDVILLE - Barneveld rolled to a big conference win over Pecatonica behind a dominating second half.

The Eagles outscored the Vikings 12-4 in the first quarter and led just 16-14 at halftime. The Eagles blew the game open in the second half outscoring the Vikings 35-15. The Eagles shot 20 of 26 from the free throw line. Pecatonica (0-4, 0-2) is still searching for its first win.

Pecatonica junior Karson Feller led the Vikings with nine points and junior Wyatt Massey had seven.

Evansville 40, Brodhead 33

EVANSVILLE - The Blue Devils limited the Cardinals to just eight field goals and held on to a 40-33 win.

Brodhead senior J.J. Panoske scored 15 points to lead the Cardinals. Fellow senior Carson Scheidegger had 12 points. The Cardinals shot 13 of 19 from the free throw line.

With the loss, Brodhead drops to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the Rock Valley South Conference.

In other area action, Lodi defeated New Glarus 71-36.
