FREEPORT —The Highland Cougars are pleased to announce Stacy Green as the new head men’s and women’s cross-country coach. Green will lead the Cougars in their inaugural season of competition for the Fall 2022 semester.

“We are looking forward to having our men’s and women’s cross-country teams compete for the first time this fall season, and so thrilled to have Stacy leading the Cougar program,” said Highland Cougar Athletic Director Pete Norman. “Stacy is the ideal person and coach to build our new cross-country programs. Her passion and enthusiasm are contagious, and I know our student-athletes are in good hands. We are very fortunate Stacy has accepted the position”

Stacy is an elementary Spanish teacher at Jones-Farrar in Freeport. She graduated from Freeport High School and studied at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill. She hails from a sports family. She has two sons Payton and Cooper. She spends hours watching them play their sports from hockey to baseball to football and basketball. Coach Green is an avid runner and is excited to share her love for running with our athletes.

“I am extremely excited for the opportunity to join the Cougar family and be a part of building the new cross-country program at Highland,” Green said. I look forward to establishing a culture that allows student-athletes to have fun running and competing and grow into the best version of themselves. We are excited to begin building a quality cross-country program. We will hit the ground running to get ready for the fall season and actively recruit student-athletes to be a part of our program this semester and in future years.”
