MONTICELLO - The Ponies more than doubled their opponents score in both the first and third sets on their way to another easy victory, blowing past Fall River 25-10, 25-20, 25-12.
Marissa Berg led the way for Monticello (17-3) with 14 kills and five blocks. Claire Gietzel had 21 digs and Clare Bruns had 26 assists for the Ponies.
"It was a very emotional night tonight for the seniors, any match could be their last," Monticello coach Scott Smice said. "Emotions were flying but they were ready. I was very happy with everybody."
Jordan Garrison led the Ponies with four aces and Alyssah Kubly was second on the team with eight kills. With the victory, Monticello moves on to Randolph to play the Rockets for the regional championship.
"The team is playing very well," Smice said. "We used the word family a lot this year and have had a lot of success with that mindset. All the girls have one common goal in mind."
Catholic Central 3, Juda 0
BURLINGTON - The Hilltoppers dominance at regionals continued as they beat Juda in straight sets 25-18, 25-17, 25-15.
Tabatha Davis and Molly Marass were the high players in digs for the Panthers with 12 apiece. Jessica Jordan led Juda with five kills and two blocks.
Catholic Central was led by Abbey Tweet's nine kills and 18 digs. Sarah Gould had 20 assists and Monica Litman six aces to pace the Hilltoppers.
