MINERAL POINT - The Darlington boys basketball team struggled offensively on their way to a 57-37 loss to SWAL rival Mineral Point.
Darlington only managed to knock down nine shots from the field, four of which came from behind the three-point line. The Redbirds were also 7 of 8 from the free throw line.
Mineral Point got off to a quick start, grabbing a 13-5 lead after the first quarter. The Pointers expanded their lead to 29-13 at halftime. The Redbird offense woke up a bit in the second half, as they scored 25 points in the final two quarters, but Mineral Point remained in control to lock down the win.
Cole McDonald led the Redbirds with 12 points. Mineral Point's Trevor Wendhausen led all scorers with 23 points.
Darlington (7-11, 4-6) will look to rebound on Friday with a conference matchup with Iowa-Grant.
