BARNEVELD - The Pecatonica baseball team stayed unbeaten by rallying for two runs in the seventh inning to clip Barneveld 7-6 on Monday.

Pecatonica (14-0, 9-0 Six Rivers East) pounded out 16 hits. Barneveld had a 6-3 lead after four innings.

"After Barneveld scored six runs in the fourth inning we answered with two runs in the fifth and two in the seventh," Pecatonica coach Jim Strommen said. "We had a lot of hits. We just didn't bunch them together or have many extra-base hits. We kept at it and found a way to pull out a win."

Pecatonica sophomore Carter Ruegsegger went 3-for-4 with two RBI and senior A.J. Hendrickson was 3-for-5. Both senior Logan Green and junior Evan Prust went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Seniors Cory Linder and Jake Dearth each were 2-for-4 and sophomore Colton Schraepfer was 2-for-5 with one RBI.

Dearth pitched three shutout innings in relief to get the win. He struck out two and gave up one hit.

Prust started and pitched 31⁄3 innings. He gave up two runs on four hits, struck out three and walked four. Hendrickson was tagged for four runs on four hits in two-thirds of an inning.
