Nelson posts top finish for Monticello

ORFORDVILLE - Becky Nelson captured the lone individual title as both the Monticello boys and girls track and field teams posted seventh-place finishes at the Don Albright Invitational on Saturday.

Nelson won the triple jump with a leap of 31 feet, 9 inches and added a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash in 14.03 seconds, scoring 16 of her team's 64 points. East Troy won with 194 points.

The Ponies' 3,200 relay unit of Katie Nelson, C.J. Dilley, Laine Havens and Amy Silver was second in 10:57.54. Havens and Dilley each added third-place individual finishes - Havens in the 200 (29.64) and Dilley in the 800 (2:40.17).

Monticello's Ryan Ruegsegger was second in the 800 (2:16.90) and teammate Evan Schultz was second in the 1,600 (4:49.87).

East Troy won the boys championship with 234 points while Monticello had 41.
