MONROE - Scott Mosher was named the Monroe High School boys track and field coach Monday.

The announcement came in a press release by Jeff Newcomer, the interim athletic director at Monroe High School. Mosher has served as a volunteer track and cross country coach the past several years. Mosher is a Monroe native and MHS graduate. He brings 11 years of coaching experience to the position. Mosher takes over for Matt Davis, who stepped down after one season as head coach.

"My intention is not only maintaining the program's history of success, but also to build the program to be the best it can be," Mosher said. "Coaching provides the opportunity to teach beyond their specific sport. Coaches teach sportsmanship, dedication, work ethic, teamwork, discipline and sacrifice."

Mosher started in coaching as an assistant in cross country and track and field at Fond du Lac High School where he coached for seven years. Mosher moved back to his hometown in 2012.

"I have known Scott for a long time, he is exactly the type of coach we are looking for," Newcomer said. "Not only is he knowledgeable in track and field but he is the ideal role model for our student-athletes."
