MONROE - The Monroe wrestling team went pin-happy in their final dual meet of the year, defeating Edgerton 65-12 at home.

"I think everybody was expecting to win, and they just went out and did their jobs," Monroe coach Jeriamy Jackson said. "I don't think anybody wanted to be that one guy that lost a match tonight."

Brett Zimmerman (285) quickly made sure he wasn't that guy, leading off the night with the first of nine pins for Monroe, defeating Edgerton's Nick Yeadon in 47 seconds.

After back-to-back forfeits went to Edgerton, the Cheesemakers rattled off 11 straight match wins to end the meet.

McKenzy Foley (120) pinned Daniel McCue in 4:53, quickly followed by Jesse Keizer (126) and his pin of Logan Hein in 1:12.

Aaron Hesgard (132) then collected a tech fall win over Edgerton's Robert Reynolds, 22-6.

At 138 pounds, JV wrestler Jarod Amacher filled in for Kevin Klopfenstein, who wrestled at 145 due to an injury to Cody Wolf.

Amacher responded by pinning Edgerton's Diante Williams in 4:45. Jackson said he informed Amacher of the opportunity minutes before the match and said he was pleased with how Amacher responded.

"I'm sure he was a little nervous, but he went out there and I give him a lot of credit for that," Jackson said.

Klopfenstein followed up Amacher's pin with a 8-3 decision over Jared Heil.

At 152, Mitch Swanson pinned Jose Cruz in 3:14, followed by Ryan Hughes' pin of Dalton Walter in 3:43.

At 170, Traiten Gorr pinned Edgerton's Alex Gosda in 5:15, followed by Dusty Burkhalter's pin of Jacob Grams in 1:46.

In the final two matches, Troy Gorr (195) won 5-3 in overtime over Edgerton's Justin Cody, and Trevor Gorr (220) pinned Spencer Stone in 1:26.

The Cheesemakers will now travel to the Badger Conference tournament in Fort Atkinson on Saturday.

Jackson said even though the conference tournament is a tough environment to wrestle, he thinks he has some wrestlers who could place well.

"We have some pretty good kids that could place pretty high," he said.
