MONONA GROVE - The Monroe girls track team ran to a fifth-place finish at the Monona Grove Invitational Saturday.
The Cheesemakers' 400-meter relay team of Jess Miller, Brenna Bazley, Ty Gibson and Maria Eberle finished first with a time of 51.92 seconds.
Wasau West won the team title, which was just ahead of three-time defending champion Middleton (127). Monroe senior Stephanie Wyss took second in the 800 (2 minutes, 26.99 seconds) and sixth in the high jump (5 feet).
Junior Jaclyn Ditter finished fourth in the 200 (:27.29) and senior Tessa Frutiger was fourth in the 400 (1:04.74).
Senior Laura Chopp took fifth in the pole vault (9-0) and senior Tess Seichter finished fifth in the 1,600 (5:37.19).
Jessica Leu finished sixth in the shot put (32-8 3/4).
