RIDGEWAY - The Monroe Brewers picked up a pair of wins over the holiday weekend. Monroe bounced Hollandale at home on Sunday, 8-4, and then used the power of the longball to knock off Ridgeway 10-7 on Monday. The pair of victories bring the Brewers (6-6) back to .500 on the year in Home Talent Sunday League play.
Against Ridgeway, Lon Scheuerelle hit a 3-run home run in a 4-run fourth inning, and Rooney Janecke hit a grand slam in the sixth to cap the Brewers' scoring.
Janecke was 3 for 5 in the contest, with a double and five RBIs. Ben Korth and Shaun Dascher each had three hits and Mitch Marty was 2 for 4 for Monroe.
Justin Hahn took the win on the mound, striking out nine and scattering four walks and 15 hits over nine innings.
In Sunday's win against Hollandale, it was Korth who came up with the biggest hit, a 3-RBI double in the fourth. Monroe trailed 4-2 headed into the inning, but RBI hits by Jake Teasdale and Kramer Henning knotted it all up at 4-4. Marty drove in a run in the seventh for insurance.
Scott White had a 2-RBI single that scored Taylor Riese and Kyle Klopfenstein in the second that tied up the score at the time at 2-2.
Korth had the win on the mound, striking out six and allowing two walks, eight hits and three earned runs in eight innings of work. Janecke pitched the ninth.
Wiota 7, Dodgeville 2
WIOTA - Brock Bidlingmaier struck out seven batters and allowed seven hits in nine innings on the hill for the Indians, in a win Monday.
Wiota used a 3-run first inning to get out early. Brad Schliem and Cory Tuescher each had two hits for the Indians.
Wiota 5, Argyle 1
ARGYLE - Wiota plated a run in both the first and sixth innings, and then used a 3-run ninth to put away the Beavers.
Tommy Meier took the win on the hill, scattering four walks and six hits while striking out 3 over nine innings. Jarrett Bauman took the loss for Argyle, pitching all nine innings.
Andy Bohlman and Bauman each went 2 for 4 for Argyle, and Schliem was 2 for 4 for Wiota.
