MADISON - Monona Grove routed the Monroe co-op Friday night, 8-1.
The Silver Eagles scored three goals in the first period, all on even strength. In the second, Monona Grove scored with 12:38 on the clock on a short-handed goal.
The Cheesemakers got on the board with 5:50 to play in the second on a coach by Luke Kuberski, assisted by Ryan Molitor. Monona Grove made it 5-1 with a goal in the final 10 seconds of the period.
The Silver Eagles scored three more times in the third.
Heath Bear saved 55 of 63 shots on net for Monroe. Offensively, the Cheesemakers could only manage 15 shots.
Monroe's next game is at home against Chequamegon/Phillips on Dec. 30 at 2 p.m.
