Monroe Optimists No. 1 upend Juda

MONROE - The Monroe Optimists No. 1 received run-scoring hits from Shayna Krebs, Kaylea Ambrose, Sydney Schultz, Lindsay Seichter and Cassidy Pivonka on its way to a 12-8 win over Juda in a Monroe Area Fastpitch game Sunday night.

Sam Hose and Natalie Dillon combined to strike out seven for Monroe.

Monroe Optimists No. 2 scored eight runs over the first two innings on its way to an 11-3 win over Black Hawk. Hannah Betthauser, Alyshia Witt, Carly Upman and McKenzie Montgomery all had multiple-hit games for Monroe. Witt, with the help of three double plays, picked up the complete-game win for Monroe.

In other games Brodhead defeated Orangeville 4-2, Monticello beat Argyle 16-9, Evansville defeated Lena 8-2, Orfordville beat New Glarus 7-4, and Warren beat Pecatonica 5-4.
