MONROE - The Monroe girls soccer team lost its regular season finale, 3-1, to Sauk Prairie in a Badger Conference crossover.
"They're a good solid team," Monroe coach Miriam O'Neill said. "We knew it was going to be a tough game."
Monroe senior Alyssa Studer scored a goal at 4 minutes, 12 seconds to give the Cheesemakers a 1-0 lead.
Sauk Prairie, which finished second in the Badger North, scored two first half goals to take a 2-1 lead.
"I think we got a little down on ourselves when we went into the half," O'Neill said. "We had some nice scoring opportunities and shots on goal. It's just unfortunate that we didn't score again."
Sauk Prairie's Rachel Meyer capped the scoring with the Eagles' final goal at 45:51.
Monroe senior Gail LaVoie had 14 saves.
Monroe (11-8-2, 2-4 Badger South) will open the WIAA Division 2 regional at 6 p.m. Thursday at Mount Horeb.
