DECORAH, IOWA - Monroe girls cross country runners experienced what running at the next level in college may feel like.
The Cheesemakers finished ninth out of 14 teams at the All-American Invitational at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, on Saturday. The Cheesemakers were just one of three Wisconsin schools. The Cheesemakers ran against some of the top teams from Iowa and Minnesota.
"It was a good expereince for them," Monroe coach Brian Jefferson said. "It gave the girls a chance to go up against some other competition. The eight schools in front of us were all state-ranked."
Monroe junior Tess Seichter led the Cheesemakers, finishing 15th in a career-best time 16 minutes, 20 seconds.
Molly Hlubek ran a lifetime best 17:04.
Monroe sophomore Rachel Rogerson ran a 17:21 and Tessa Frutiger finished in 17:31.
