CAMBRIDGE — With an 8-0 win over Cambridge-Deerfield on April 30, Sugar River celebrated head coach John Ziperski’s 400th career win.

He has compiled a record of 400-111-48 in 26 years of coaching. In that time, Sugar River girls soccer has won over 10 conference championships — including the last six straight — over 10 regional titles, two state appearances and a silver ball in 2016.

“Being a coach has been a passion for over 25 years now, and each year has new and renewed seasons,” Ziperski said in a Facebook post. “No doubt the start was more by accident, the middle was a pursuit to try and become more professional, at times chasing trophies, at times focused on causes, but always focused on giving my all to provide experiences. I have been most blessed to work with quite a few amazing coaches on my staff, without them, no way I think about doing this.”

In Tuesday’s Capitol Conference contest, Bella Brenkman scored four goals. Anya Brenkman also tallied a hat trick, and Hannah Boldebuck scored. The Raiders, ranked No. 10 in Division 3, didn’t allow a single shot on goal. Addison Lutz and Alice Neton split time in net and didn’t record any saves.

In other local girls soccer, Monroe drew with Platteville 0-0 and River Valley 1-1. Addison Bartholf was responsible for the lone goal, scoring on a penalty kick.
