MONROE — Seniors JT Seagreaves and Carson Leuzinger capped their high school careers by being named to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association’s honorable mention all-state team in Division 2.
The pair averaged nearly 40 points per game combined this past season, helping Monroe win it’s first conference championship in over a decade in the process. Leuzinger led Monroe with a 20.2 ppg average and was named the Badger West Player of the Year. Seagreaves averaged 19 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
The two standouts reached the 1,000-point career milestone within a week of each other in January. Seagreaves finished his career as the school’s all-time rebounding leader.
Monroe finished the 2021-22 with a 20-6 overall record. In four years of varsity, the pair helped the Cheesemakers to a 64-25 overall record, with each season finishing with more wins that the year prior.
Division 4
Southwestern Wisconsin was well represented in the WBCA’s selection of all-state players.
Darlington seniors Easton Evenstad and Hunter Hardyman were selected for the Honorable Mention team, as was Brodhead senior Owen Leifker, New Glarus senior Dain Walter and Belleville’s Carson and Trevor Syse. Cuba City’s Max Lucey was also an honorable mention pick out of the SWAL, as was Mineral Point’s Leyten Bowers and Dennimore’s Brady Larson.
Mineral Point’s Joah Filardo, Cuba City’s Carter Olson and Marshall’s Craig Ward, the Capitol Conference Player of the Year, were among the first-team picks.
