DARLINGTON — The Southwest Wisconsin Activities League announced its all-conference selections recently, and the Redbirds were honored at four positions.
Senior Kolbe Ubersox was named first-team all-conference on defense at linebacker.
Juniors Leif Bredeson (offensive line) and Barry Schliem (defensive back) were second-team and senior Carson Evenstad was honorable mention.
Mineral Point sophomore Isaac Lindsey was the offensive player of the year in the SWAL, while Fennimore senior Derek Kephart was the defensive player of the year. Senior Logan O’Brien of Fennimore was the lineman of the year, and Andy Palzkill of Mineral Point, the conference champion, was coach of the year.
Evenstad and senior Shane Gallagher were also honored with Academic All-State honors by the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association. To qualify for academic all-state, the WFCA requires students be seniors with a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 or higher and a varsity letterwinner.
Rock Valley honors players from Brodhead-Juda, Evansville-Albany
MONROE — Brodhead-Juda’s football team scored eight all-conference selections in the Rock Valley, while Evansville-Albany finished with seven.
Senior running back Jeffrey Williams of Brodhead-Juda and junior wide receiver Sully Geske were first-team all-conference. Williams was joined in offensive postseason honors by junior teammate Jacob Miller, a second-team offensive line selection.
Brodhead-Juda also saw senior linebacker Nick Noonan grab a first-team defense spot, while junior Max Harding (defensive back) and senior Seth Allen (punter) were second-team picks. Juniors Marco Bueno, Nick Naramore and Dalton Naramore were all honorable mention for the Cardinals.
Evansville-Albany senior Evan Blumer was first-team defense as a defensive end. Junior Clint Bergsma was a second-team selection at offensive line, and junior Carson Hill was a second-team pick at defensive back. Juniors Jaden O’Bel and Seth Maag, as well as sophomore quarterback Tyr Severson were honorable mention all-conference for the Blue Devils.
East Troy’s Jack Dessart was the offensive player of the year in the Rock Valley, with Edgerton senior Jordan Lietz being named the conference defensive player of the year and the offensive lineman of the year. McFarland’s Derek Schwarting and Edgerton’s Jaden Johnson were co-backs of the year at quarterback.
Paul Ackley was named conference coach of the year after leading McFarland to an unbeaten regular season.
