Setterstrom moves on, Saunders’ season done

MADISON — The WIAA released the boys state tournament brackets on Friday, May 27, when Matthew Setterstrom learned his special request for state was approved. Setterstrom was one of eight special qualifiers at No. 1 singles.

The sophomore will continue his 14-6 season on Thursday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison. Setterstrom drew Rohan Singh (18-4) of Brookfield Academy. 

Ryan Mathiason and Max Petitjean, who automatically qualified for state based on their sectional performance, will play on Thursday, June 1 at 6:45 p.m. The pair will face off against East Troy’s Chase Stoner and Max Maternowski. 

Junior Wes Saunders’ special request was denied, and he ends his season with a 21-3 record.
