NEW GLARUS — For the third time in three years, New Glarus’s Lindsey Schadewalt was named the Capitol South Conference Player of the Year.
Schadewalt became one of 39 players in Wisconsin girls basketball history to score 2,000 career points in her team’s conference win over Cambridge on Jan. 16. Schadewalt finished her career with 2,328 points, which is New Glarus’s school record and 12th overall in Wisconsin girls basketball all-time scoring.
She averaged 30.3 ppg as a senior with a career-high 43 points against Waterloo on Jan. 20. Schadewalt was 198-for-222 from the line (0.892) with 37-straight makes over four games. She also shot exceptionally from 3-point range (56-for-111, 0.505), winning the WIAA 3-Point Challenge on Saturday, March 9. In fact, Schadewalt set a new record for total points (62) and was just one point shy of the single-round record (23), set by Fox Valley Lutheran’s Emily Jaenke in 2023.
Glarner Knight teammates Elle Lancaster and Bella Brenkman earned second-team all-conference.
Lancaster was second on the team in scoring with 11.3 ppg. She shot 37% from beyond the arc and 88% from the line.
Brenkman averaged just 4.8 ppg, but led the team with 83 assists. She was second on the team with 56 steals.
New Glarus won its third-straight Capitol South title and its second-straight undefeated league season. The Glarner Knights finished 23-3 overall, falling in a WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinal to Cuba City for the second-straight season.
Belleville had three Wildcats honored.
Toria DeVoe was named to the all-conference first team. She led the team with 16.0 ppg, going 59-for-141 from beyond the arc (42%). She DeVoe also led the team with 71 assists.
Maddie DeSmet also earned first-team all-conference. She averaged a double-double with 14.0 ppg and 10.1 rpg. Defensively, DeSmet tallied 67 blocks.
Addison Edge garnered second-team all-conference. She was the third Wildcat to average double figures (11.4 ppg). She was second on the team in assists with 64 and led all Belleville players with 50 steals.
Belleville tied with Cambrdige (7-3) for second in conference. The Wildcats lost a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal game to Brodhead, 53-50.
