BELMONT — Pecatonica earned a doubleheader sweep over Belmont April 26 thanks to a solid pitching effort in both games.

“We had great pitching from Lane Busser, Colton Schraepfer and Hunter Enloe,” Vikings coach Jim Strommen said.

Pecatonica won the opener 11-1 behind some timely hitting, and then Enloe impressed in Game 2, pitching a 2-hit shutout as the Vikings on 1-0.

“Hunter was the story of the game. He got out of a couple of jams early on,” Strommen said.

Enloe, a freshman, didn’t walk a batter and struck out two in five innings. The game was called after the fifth.

Pecatonica scored the only run of the second game in the bottom of the fourth inning. After Carter Ruegsegger singled to center on the second pitch of the inning, Griffin Gordon came on to pinch run. After stealing second, Gordon scored the only run of the game on a fielding error by Justan Ernst at second base with two outs.
