NEW GLARUS — After dropping its first three games of the season, New Glarus got a much-needed 5-4 win over Lancaster on Wednesday, May 8. Entering the game, the Glarner Knights were on a three-game Capitol Conference skid, had relinquished first place and dropped off the WisSports.net Coaches Poll after sitting in the top 12 for two weeks.

The team faced adversity both on and off the field. The game began May 7 over an hour after initially scheduled and got delayed in the top of the third.

The game resumed a day later in the same inning, where both teams scored two runs. Lancaster got on the board first with a two-out two-RBI single from Nolan Wolf. New Glarus responded with back-to-back bases loaded walks by Ashlin and Leyton Mihlbauer.

Wolf came up big again in the fifth, lining a two-out two-RBI double to left. The Knights pushed one run across in the bottom of the frame on a sacrifice fly by Leyton Mihlbauer.

In the sixth inning, Nolan Julseth tied the game with a bases-loaded walk. Ashlin Mihlbauer then drove in the game-winning run with a single to right.
