Monroe's Bodie Minder

LA CROSSE — Bodie Minder and Patrick Rielly each captured their 100th career wins at the annual Bi-State Tournament in La Crosse, held Dec. 27-28.

Minder picked up his milestone victory during Day 1 of the competition. He went 6-2 in the tournament and took fourth in the heavyweight bracket. Rielly also went 6-2 on the weekend and picked up his 100th win in Day 2. Rielly placed ninth at 160-pounds. Minder now has 103 career wins, while Rielly is at 101.

“It was a good tournament for Bodie. He lost his third-place match in a Sudden Victory overtime. He needed to ride out his opponent for 30 seconds and he gave up a 2-point reversal with about 10 seconds left,” Monroe coach Tom Witt said. “Rielly won his first two matches and then lost his third-round match to the No. 3-seeded wrestler from Stratford. He then would win two matches in a row to secure a spot into Day 2 of wrestling and onto the podium.”

Alex Witt also placed for the Cheesemakers, finishing fifth at 182. Monroe finished tied for ninth in Division 2 with Lodi, which is ranked ninth in the state. The Cheesemakers were 27th overall out of 70 teams at the tournament.

“Alex had a great first day of wrestling, winning his first four matches on Friday, making to the semifinals on Saturday morning,” Tom Witt said. Alex lost to Reece Worachek of Luxemburg-Casco, the state’s No. 1 ranked wrestler and defending 170-pound champion. Alex then lost another match to a wrestler from Stillwater, Minnesota before rallying in the fifth-place match.

“(He was) behind 3-2 with eight seconds left in the match,” Tom Witt said of son Alex, who then secured a takedown to get the win and finished 5-2 on the weekend. “It was a good tournament for Alex. He was disappointed in the consolation semifinal loss, but found a way to gut out the victory for fifth.”

Jack Dubach, Garrett Voegeli, Max Patterson and Brady Schuh all made it to Saturday matches but did not place.
