OCONOMOWOC — Monroe traveled to Oconomowoc for a Triangular on Saturday, May 13 where the Cheesemakers faced stiff competition and went 0-2.
Monroe opened with a 9-6 loss to Wilmot, despite scoring three runs in the top of the first. The Panthers responded in the bottom half of the frame with seven runs. Katrina Sathoff and Kate Kundert recorded multiple hit games, while Sophie Golembiewski recorded a two-RBI double. Kaegann Paulson took the loss, giving up eight earned runs on 10 hits.
In game two, Oconomowoc scored nine runs in the final four innings to seal its fate. Paulson and Golembiewski tallied two hits each, while Olivia Feller drove in two runs. Golembiewski, who pitched 5 2/3 innings in relief, suffered the loss. She gave up six earned runs on 13 hits.
The pair of losses came after an 8-6 come-from-behind win over Portage on Friday, May 12. Brinley Roidt sparked the offense, going 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs and a home run. Feller and Kundert also recorded multiple hit games. Paulson picked up the win, giving up four earned runs on six hits while striking out seven.
Pecatonica jumps Barneveld in Six Rivers East standings
BARNEVELD — With a 5-2 win over Barneveld on Friday, May 12, Pecatonica moved into second place in the Six Rivers East Conference standings with a 4-2 record. Bri Peterson led the offense, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a double. Chloe Schraepfer picked up the win, giving up one earned run on four hits. She struck out 10 and walked just two.
The Vikings then stumbled on Saturday, May 13, suffering a pair of losses 11-1 and 11-2. In the six-inning 11-1 loss to River Valley, Maddie Hirsch and Diana Hendrickson tallied the only hits. Schraepfer took the loss, despite giving up no earned runs.
Trinity Gruenenfelder went 2-for-3 with an RBI against Cuba City, but the effort wasn’t enough in the 11-2 loss. Hendrickson gave up eight earned runs on 13 hits. She struck out four and didn’t issue a walk.
Davis perfect at the plate
JUDA — Senior Ciarrah Davis led Juda-Albany to an 8-1 win over Potosi-Cassville on Friday, May 12 with her 3-for-3 performance at the plate. The lefty slapper scored two runs, drove in two others and drew two walks. Avary Briggs also tallied three hits to go with her win in the circle. She gave up one earned run on no hits.
Argyle falls in extras
ARGYLE — An RBI triple in the top of the ninth pushed Benton-Shullsburg over Argyle 5-4 on Thursday, May 11. Mya McNett, Hannah Gierhart and Sam Kammes accounted for six of Argyle’s eight hits, while Ava Wiegel drove in two runs. McNett pitched all nine innings, suffering the loss. She gave up three earned runs on eight hits and struck out four.
MNG drops conference crossover game
PATCH GROVE — The Ponies scored two runs in the top of the seventh, but their comeback effort fell short as River Ridge defeated Monticello-New Glarus 7-3 on Thursday, May 11. Grace Seffrood led the offense, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Kira Whisler suffered the loss, giving up two earned runs on four hits. She struck out five and walked two.
In other local softball, Darlington fell to Iowa-Grant 12-0 on Thursday, May 11.
