MONROE — Following a 7-0 loss to East Troy on Thursday, Sept. 7, Monroe won its first game in nearly two years with a 4-0 victory over Janesville Parker on Saturday, Sept. 9. The last time the Cheesemakers won was 9-0 against Prairie du Chien on Oct. 19, 2021 in a WIAA regional.

“I’m happy to have finally broken the drought,” Monroe head coach Matt Coplien said. “These boys really deserved this win. However, our work doesn’t stop here. We have half the season to go and plenty of wins left in us. We celebrate this one, but get back to work on Monday.”

Monroe received goals from Osmar Fernandez Sanchez, Brock Brandli, and Matt Setterstrom (2). Nate Richardson recorded the shutout.

“It feels great,” Fernandez Sanchez said. “It could be the motivation we need to move forward. It’s only up from here.”
