COTTAGE GROVE — For the second straight game, the Cheesemakers allowed a goal in the opening minute of a loss. Monona Grove’s Val Giallombardo scored just 40 seconds into the contest — the first of nine Silver Eagle goals. Monroe’s lone score came in the 62nd minute from Addison Bartholf.

Monona Grove led 3-0 at halftime, as Meghan Kohrt and Ashley Price scored in the 11th and 23rd minutes.

The Silver Eagles (5-2-1) upped the pressure to open the second half, scoring three goals in the first four minutes to put the game out of reach for Monroe (1-4). Emma Dyer, Ally Hilgart, Delaney Bracken and Morgan Hall all scored a goal in the second half. Price scored twice in the second half — including with a minute to play — to cap her hat trick.

Up next for the Cheesemakers is Platteville-Lancaster (7-1), currently ranked No. 7 in Division 3, on May 27, and then eighth-ranked Madison Edgewood June 1. Both games are home at Honey Creek Park.

Sugar River 3, Lodi 0

BELLEVILLE — The Raiders (10-1, No. 6 in D3) recorded their eighth clean sheet in 11 games May 25. Opponents have scored just four goals on Sugar River this year, with two coming against D1 Janesville Craig in a 2-0 loss in the second game of the season.

Regyn Jelle put the Raiders ahead 1-0 with a goal in the seventh minute off a pass from Jaylynn Benson. Callie Smith scored 13 minutes later, with Lainey Winkers assisting. Sugar River’s final goal came in the 86th minute, when Jelle and Francesca Schiro assisted Benson for a score.

Morgan Thompson was perfect in net in the first half, saving five shots. Kaitlyn Peterson had three saves in the second half.

The final two games of the regular season for the Raiders are on the road — June 1 at Lake Mills and June 3 at Watertown Luther Prep.
