Darlington starts off red hot

DODGEVILLE — Fresh off its state-runner up football season, Darlington boys are ready to dominate the next sport. The Redbirds, ranked No. 1 in Division 4, opened their basketball season with a 75-36 win over Dodgeville on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

Will Murray led all scorers with 26 points, shooting 13 of 20 from the field. Reagan Jackson, Carter Murray and Broker Buschor also scored in double figures with 11 and 10 points each, respectively. Will Murray, Carter Murray and Brady Long tallied five rebounds apiece. Long also recorded seven assists. 

John McGraw and Bryce Crubaugh-Lockard led Dodgeville with 11 points each.

BRODHEAD 72, RIVER VALLEY 52

RIVER VALLEY — With three players in double figures, Brodhead cruised to a nonconference victory on Monday, Nov. 27.

Cullen Walker led all scorers with 23 points and five rebounds. Sam Searls tallied 13 points, and Gabe Bockhop chipped in 12 points. These three scorers accounted for all eight of the Cardinals’ 3-pointers. Nathan Engen, who scored eight points, led the team with seven rebounds. 

River Valley also had three players in double figures, led by Cole Nabbefeld and Sam Pape with 11 points each.

POTOSI 63, ALBANY 34

POTOSI — The Comets began their season with a conference crossover loss to the Chieftains on Tuesday, Nov. 28. Potosi, ranked No. 4 in Division 5, led 35-16 after the first half.

Kaden Zurfluh led Albany with 15 points. The second highest scorer was Ty Durtschi with eight points. Dawson Weber paced Potosi with 18 points, including two 3-pointers. Gavin Wunderlin, who scored 12 points, grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

In other local basketball, Argyle defeated Cassville 76-60, and New Glarus fell to Edgerton 70-57.
