MILTON — The Cheesemakers were swept by the Red Hawks May 10.

“We didn’t have Bo Bahler tonight at No. 1 singles and Jon Callaway at No. 2 doubles, and really just couldn’t keep up with Milton,” Monroe coach Matt Bordner said. “They had quite a few really talented seniors that will definitely compete well at the conference tournament. We really didn’t get much momentum in any of the matches as most of our guys got shifted up higher in the lineup.”

Monroe’s Chris Andraski (No. 1 singles), Gabe Moon (No. 2 singles) and Charlie Frehner (No. 3 singles) all lost 6-0, 6-0. Tim Beckman lost the No. 4 singles match 6-2, 6-2.

At No. 1 doubles, Luke Quinn and Evan Thompson fell 6-2, 6-0. Wade Sweeney and Heath Bear fell in the No. 2 doubles match 6-3, 6-2, and Monroe’s No. 3 doubles tandem of Luis Torres and Logan Leuzinger fell 6-0, 6-0.

“We have our last chance for a conference victory on Monday (May 13) versus Fort (Atkinson),” Bordner said, adding that this week “will be important for us to see if we can build a little momentum heading into the conference tournament and subsectionals. We’ve had a few guys have individual success that could potentially make some noise at subsectionals against smalls schools than the ones in our conference.”
