BROOKFIELD — Monroe saw its WIAA Division 1 playoff run end on opening night with a 7-2 loss to the Brookfield Stars Feb. 15. Monroe was outshot 46-16.

Brookfield scored two goals in the first period and four more in the second. Monroe’s Aiden Grey broke the egg with five minutes left in the second stanza, making it 3-1 with Seth Brandt and Ethan Rosenstiel assisting.

Brookfield countered right away, regaining the three score lead just 16 seconds after Grey’s goal.

Monroe’s final goal of the season came with less than 2 1/2 to play with Patrick Alt putting home the puck off an assist from Nolan Bodenstein.

Xander Obert had 40 saves in net for Monroe, which finished the season with a 2-21 record. Brookfield (13-10-1) will host Muskego Feb. 17 in the second round.
