Cheese suffer 3-hit shutout

PRAIRIE DU SAC — Monroe committed four errors in a 3-0 loss to Sauk Prairie on Friday, May 12. The Eagles scored one run in the first and two in the second to secure the victory. The Cheesemakers had just two runners in scoring position the entire game.

Monroe’s three hits came from Cole Meighan, Tucker Markham and Cam Newcomer. Owen Gilbertson and Keatin Sweeney also reached base by walk and error, respectively. Keegan Dahmen suffered the loss, giving up three unearned runs on five hits.


Ponies drop three conference games

POTOSI — Monticello-Albany in a on nine-game losing streak after suffering three loses over two days. Pecatonica defeated Monticello-Albany 13-1 on Thursday, May 11. The Ponies tallied three hits — one each from Andrew Thoman, Brayden Bakken and Leon Parker. Tyler Patchen suffered the loss, fiving up eight earned runs on eight hits.

Tyler McKeon, Jameson Johnson and Carson Kurschner each tallied two hits for the Vikings, while McKeon, Johnson and Coy Ruegsegger drove in two runs apiece. Ruegsegger picked up the win, giving up one unearned run in five innings pitched. He struck out seven and didn’t issue a walk.

On Friday, May 12 the Ponies suffered a doubleheader sweep 10-0 and 12-4 to Potosi-Cassville. In game one, Chieftain pitcher Eli Adams tossed a no-hitter. Aside from one error, Potosi-Cassville played a clean game. Bakken suffered the loss, giving up seven earned runs on seven hits.

Monticello-Albany responded in game two but still fell short. Parker paced the offense, going 2-for-4 at the plate with one run scored and one RBI. Cody Pryce took the loss, giving up five earned runs on seven hits. He struck out seven and walked one.


Cardinals hold off Whippets

BELOIT — Brodhead-Juda staved off a seventh-inning rally by Whitewater to come away with a 4-3 win on Saturday, May 13 at ABC Supply Stadium, home to the Beloit Sky Carp. Relief pitcher Brody Riese struck out two batters in the seventh and induced a ground ball to end the game.

Kohen Sawle led the Cardinals at the plate, going 2-for-3. Evan Senobe picked up the win, giving up just one earned run on one hit. He struck out five and walked three.


Redbird rally falls short

CUBA CITY — Despite a three-run fifth, Darlington fell to Cuba City 9-4 on Friday, May 12. At leadoff, Tye Crist went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, and No. 3 hitter Breylin Goebel went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. The rest of the lineup was unable to produce, though. Reagan Jackson suffered the loss, giving up three earned runs in three innings pitched.
